Is Medigent an AI agent, or just a chatbot with extra steps?
In the sense that matters, yes. A chatbot answers one message at a time from a script; an IVR makes a caller press buttons through a menu. Medigent holds an actual phone conversation, works out what the caller wants across the whole call, and acts on it — checking your real clinic hours and capturing the appointment request with the day and time asked for, straight into your day-book for your staff to confirm. That is what makes it an AI agent rather than a script: it decides what to do with what it hears, in Hindi or English, without anyone at the clinic having to design that conversation flow first.
Can an AI receptionist really speak Hindi to my patients?
Yes. It answers in natural Hindi and English and switches mid-sentence the way patients actually speak, because most callers to an Indian clinic do not stay in one language for a whole sentence. Speech recognition is tuned for Hindi rather than run on a general multilingual setting.
Will an AI voice agent actually work for a small-town clinic, or is this built for big-city hospitals?
If anything, it is built around exactly the clinics that get overlooked by hospital-grade software: a single-doctor practice in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 town, not a metro hospital chain with an IT department. It answers in the Hindi patients actually use on a phone call, not textbook Hindi, and switches to English mid-sentence the way real callers do, because that is how a call to an Indian clinic actually sounds. Clinics on Medigent today include dental, neurology and mental health practices, in small towns as well as cities.
What happens to calls that come at night, on Sunday, or during a lunch break?
They get answered. The AI receptionist works 24 hours a day, every day, including the calls at 10:30 pm and 4 am that a front desk will never take. It can hold seven conversations at once, so nobody hears an engaged tone during morning rush.
How is this different from an IVR or a call answering service?
An IVR makes the patient press buttons through a menu. An answering service takes a message for somebody to act on later. This holds an actual conversation, understands what the patient wants, checks your real clinic hours, and writes the appointment into your system with the day and time the patient asked for. This is what people usually mean by an AI voice agent for a clinic, not just an automated answering system.
Does the AI confirm the appointment itself, or does my staff still check it?
It captures the appointment request with the patient's name, the day and the time they want, and puts it in your panel. Your staff confirm it before it becomes final. The AI never tells a patient the appointment is confirmed, because a person should be the one to promise that.
Is Medigent ABDM ready? Can I use ABHA IDs?
Yes. Patients can be identified by ABHA ID, and records are shared only after the patient consents. Diagnoses are coded to SNOMED CT rather than typed as free text, which is what ABDM compliance actually requires. Medigent holds SNOMED CT Affiliate Licence 1743442.
Where is my patient data stored?
On our own servers in the AWS Mumbai region. Call recordings and consultation transcripts have never left that infrastructure — they are not sent to a foreign cloud for storage. Medigent has a signed HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with AWS, and handling follows India's DPDP Act.
What does an AI receptionist cost compared to hiring a receptionist in India?
A full-time front desk costs roughly ₹12,000 to ₹18,000 a month and goes home in the evening. The Grow plan is ₹3,999 a month and answers around the clock. Patient records, e-prescriptions and the daily digest are free for life on every plan — you pay only for AI usage.
Do I need a new phone number, or can it use my clinic's existing number?
Either. A plan with voice includes a number, or you can keep the number your patients already know and divert calls to Medigent — the printed boards and old prescriptions keep working.
Can I do video consultations?
Yes, and they run inside the same patient chart rather than on a separate meeting link, so the consultation, the note and the prescription all sit in one place. The video runs on the same AWS infrastructure covered by our Business Associate Agreement.
What happens when the AI does not know the answer?
It says so and hands over, rather than guessing. It is built never to give medical advice, never to quote a fee it has not been told, and never to argue with a caller. For anything clinical it says the doctor will advise, and offers to book the appointment.
Is the free plan actually free forever?
Yes. Patient records, e-prescriptions, e-consent and your clinic page cost nothing, with no card and no time limit. The AI receptionist, the scribe and WhatsApp follow-ups are the paid parts. You can run your whole clinic on the free tier and never buy a credit.
Is Medigent a clinic management software or just an AI receptionist?
Both, and that is the point. The AI receptionist is the part people notice, but underneath it is clinic management software: patient records, appointment book, e-prescriptions, consent forms, a daily digest of your numbers and your own clinic page. Most practices run three separate tools for this and none of them talk to each other. Here the phone, the notes and the records are one system, and the records half is free for life.
What does the AI medical scribe do during the consultation?
HealthScribe listens to the consultation, separates who said what, and drafts a clinical note in the standard complaint, findings, diagnosis and plan structure before the patient stands up. Diagnoses are coded to SNOMED CT rather than typed as free text. You read the draft, change what you want and sign it. Nothing enters the record unsigned, and the patient is asked for consent before any recording starts.
How is HealthScribe different from other AI medical scribe or ambient documentation tools?
Most AI medical scribe tools do one job well: they listen to a consultation and hand back a note, which you then copy into whatever system you already use. HealthScribe writes the same kind of structured note — complaint, findings, diagnosis, plan — but it writes it directly into the patient's chart inside Medigent, coded to SNOMED CT rather than left as free text, sitting next to the appointment that brought the patient in and the prescription you sign afterwards. The difference is not the transcription. It is that the note never has to leave the record to become useful.
Does it send appointment reminders and follow-ups on WhatsApp?
Yes. Reminders and follow-ups go out on WhatsApp, on the same thread the patient already uses for your clinic, so there is no new app and no new number to learn. Four care loops run against your own patient records: a medicine course ending, a report not collected, a missed appointment, a review due. Each one stops the moment the patient acts, so nobody is chased twice.
Will this work for a dental, physiotherapy or psychiatry practice?
Yes. The receptionist is told your clinic's hours, doctors, services and fees, so a dental clinic, a physiotherapy centre and a psychiatry practice each get an assistant that answers with their own details rather than a generic script. Clinics on Medigent today include dental, neurology and mental health practices, in small towns as well as cities.
Can I keep using it after hours, and what happens to missed calls?
That is the main reason clinics buy it. Calls at 10:30 pm, on a Sunday, or during a lunch break are answered instead of being missed, and up to seven can be handled at once so nobody hears an engaged tone. Every call is recorded and transcribed in your panel, so a missed call stops being invisible and becomes a patient you can call back.
