WhatsApp follow-ups

The follow-up happens whether you remember it or not.

Not a broadcast list. Four loops that watch your own patient records, message on WhatsApp when something real happens, and stop the moment the patient responds.

Every clinic means to follow up. Almost none does, because it depends on a person remembering, on a day when forty other people needed something. The patients who quietly disappear are not unhappy. They were never reminded.

Four loops, each with a trigger

Course ending
A medicine course finishes tomorrow. Better, or should we book a review?
Report not collected
A test was ordered and the result was never picked up.
Missed appointment
A confirmed slot passed with nobody in the chair.
Review due
A condition that needs seeing again, at the interval you set.

This is not marketing, and it must not become marketing. Loops fire on clinical evidence in your own records, never on a date in a calendar and never on a bought list. Indian telecom rules on unsolicited commercial messages apply to your clinic, and the product is built so you do not accidentally break them.

Why WhatsApp and not SMS. Because that is where the patient already is. A message on the thread they use to send you a photograph of a rash gets read. An SMS from a six-character sender ID does not.

Questions doctors actually ask

Does it send appointment reminders on WhatsApp?

Yes. Reminders and follow-ups go out on WhatsApp, on the same thread the patient already uses for your clinic, so there is no new app and no new number to learn.

Will my patients get chased repeatedly?

No. Each loop stops the moment the patient acts, and the loops check each other so two of them cannot chase the same patient for the same thing. That rule is enforced in the system, not left to the person setting it up.

Is WhatsApp allowed for patient communication in India?

For appointment logistics and care reminders, yes, and it is what patients actually use. Clinical detail should stay in the record rather than in a chat thread, and the loops are written that way. Unsolicited commercial messaging is a separate matter governed by telecom rules and the product does not do it.

What if the patient never replies?

The clinic sees the silence. That is the point. A patient who does not answer is surfaced to you as something to act on, instead of disappearing quietly from the day sheet.
